I am sitting at Sydney airport waiting for my flight back to Albury. I have been on the Gold Coast at the #ADS ADEA 2016 conference. In real words that is the Australian Diabetes Society and Australian Diabetes Educators Associations National scientific meeting. I always enjoying getting to conference as it is a good time to catch up with friends and see what is new on the horizon. (Conference dinner is usually pretty fun as well!).
What I can tell you is there will be a new CGM system coming onto the market in the next couple of months. It's from Medtronic and it is called Guardian Connect. It is a stand alone CGM system (this means it doesn't talk to a pump) but it will talk to an IOS device (such as iphone, ipod or ipad with wifi). You can also have up to 5 'care partners' who can follow you and watch what is happening with BGLs. They can opt in for alarms if they want to. GO to the medtronic website for more information.

In other good news from Medtronic they are upgrading the carelink personal website. Personal users will be able to see the same reports as the 'professionals'. The system is also moving away from using Java. If you have upgraded to windows 10 and are having trouble with uploading here are a couple of tips.
1. use Mozilla (firefox) as your search engine and the first time 'run as an administrator' to get it all set-up.
2. Medtronic have just announced an upgraded meter for VEO users- Contournext-LINK which is meter and carelink USB all in one. The USB is an upgrade to USB 3.0 and should work with windows 10 unlike the white carelink USB. You should have got an email from Medtronic offering you a free meter (just pay $10 postage) and you can get the meter through the medtronic eshop- check your emails!

That is all for now. My next blog will be some info on the Continuous Glucose monitoring systems that are avaiable. I will try and explain the differences!!
